The highpoint is the marked natural rock near the observation tower. The tower and the separate Mount Davis picnic area are not the highpoint.

Observation-area parking to the highpoint rock
When the access road is open, drive to the High Point observation-area lot and follow the short path to the marked boulder, interpretive signs, and observation tower. Climbing the tower is optional and does not change the location of the natural highpoint.

Typical hazards: Wet or icy rock and tower steps can be slippery. Avoid the exposed tower during thunderstorms or strong winds, and respect any closure.

Choose the summit lot or a longer walk
The summit-area lot is distinct from the Mount Davis picnic area on Mount Davis Road (SR 2004). The picnic area connects to the summit via High Point Trail, offering a longer wooded walk if desired; carry the DCNR map for that option.
Use the designated observation-area lot for the shortest visit. Check access with Forbes State Forest before a winter trip; a year-round picnic-area listing does not establish that the summit road is plowed or passable.

Natural-area visit
Camping is prohibited in Mount Davis Natural Area and within 300 feet of the Mount Davis picnic area. Consult Forbes camping guidance for overnight options elsewhere.
Pack out waste, protect the highpoint rock and survey marker, and follow posted trail and tower restrictions.
