Mount Greylock summit parking
Typical hazards: Steep and winding road sections, fog, strong wind, rapidly changing temperatures, thunderstorms, snow or ice outside the normal road season, and limited cell service near the summit.
Driving access is seasonal. Massachusetts DCR closes the auto roads during winter and may delay or interrupt access because of weather or road conditions.

Access
Mount Greylock Scenic Byway
The summit auto roads provide seasonal vehicle access from the Mount Greylock State Reservation road system to parking immediately below the summit.
Summit parking is limited.
A valid parking payment does not create additional capacity at the summit. Busy summer and fall-foliage periods can produce heavy demand, so arrive earlier when possible.

Mount Greylock summit basics
Pets must be leashed and attended at all times.
Drones are prohibited.
ATVs and other off-road vehicles are prohibited on trails.
Vehicles longer than 22 feet may not use the Mount Greylock auto roads.
Stay on designated summit trails and paths to protect sensitive vegetation.

Mount Greylock is typically colder and windier than the surrounding valleys. Check current DCR status and weather before driving the narrow mountain roads, particularly during spring opening and late-autumn conditions.
